Leah's Success Story

Breast Reduction

“Even being told what to expect, you don’t really know until you’ve gone through it yourself. I  had heard some stories and had concerns, however, I didn’t feel nervous with Dr. Webb,” begins Leah, a student in Paradise Valley, AZ.

Leah had been dealing with a lot of back and shoulder pain ever since puberty due to her large breasts. Her primary care physician noted her spine was moving because of the size of her breasts. Leah’s doctor recommended losing weight to see if there would be an effect on her breast size and if not, they would consider a breast reduction procedure. Leah lost weight, but unfortunately there was no change in her breast size and she made the decision to get a breast reduction.

Leah went to a few different plastic surgeons in town and one of them recommended she see Dr. Leland Webb.

“Once I met Dr. Webb, I was very comfortable right off the bat. He thoroughly explained how the procedure works. My mom came with me to all of the appointments and she liked Dr. Webb, too,” explains Leah.

Before meeting Dr. Webb, Leah didn’t really know what to expect in terms of her recovery. She knew of the procedure and had a basic understanding of how it was going to work, but after her consultation, she felt confident that she knew exactly what would happen. Once she actually had her procedure, she said it was easier than she had anticipated. She reports that she was already driving and moving not even a week after the surgery!

“The whole team at Webb Plastic Surgery is great. Adrian, the medical assistant, is awesome. Any question I had, even if it was simple stuff, I would text her and she would get back to me very quickly, which I really appreciated. Dr. Webb is very comforting. With him, no question was a stupid question. He and Adrian made me feel very comfortable and were very, very helpful. Dr. Webb is very confident and he knows what he is doing. He’s not arrogant; but is very respectful, which I really appreciate. He listened to my concerns and took them into account. My mom asked a lot of questions and he would reassure her, too. She can read people easily and she really liked Dr. Webb.”

Leah excitedly added the fact that she just went for a run, which she was not able to do before surgery. She added that the surgery has positively impacted the fit of her clothing, her self-esteem and her overall health. Her back and shoulders don’t hurt anymore and she feels a lot healthier now because her breast size was literally and figuratively weighing on her.

“Dr. Webb said they took out about 15 pounds of breast tissue and I’m still a size D. I feel a lot better because I’m wearing a Lululemon sports bra and I did not fit in those before. I gave away half of my clothing because you can finally see my torso! When you have really large breasts, no matter what you do, you look either provocative or frumpy. Having more average size breasts, I feel like people take me more seriously. I don’t hunch over. I don’t feel insecure. It’s really changed my life.”

What is Leah’s advice to anyone with the same condition?

“Do it. A breast reduction surgery is so life changing. People think when you go in for a breast reduction you have to go like four or five sizes smaller, but you don’t have to. If you want to go down two cup sizes you can do that. For someone like me, I was already small and it wasn’t about losing weight. I had lost 20 pounds and my breasts still looked big. If this is something you want to do, talk to Dr. Webb and ask questions. I recommend it to everyone with uncomfortably large breasts.”
